Audi A4 Cabriolet 2004 Roof/Hood stops working
I pressed the roof-down button on my Audi A4 for a few seconds and allowed to it to get 10% through its cycle and it stopped working. It showed a fault on the dash saying "Roof not secure". I checked on the internet and a few other people have had this. I did have a suitcase in the back seat which the roof may have hit slightly but not enough to damage anything so i thought it was a sensor that had reported a jam and therfore shut the system roof hydrualics down and refused to restart. I read through the manual and found the instrucfions regarding the Key. This is stored away in a panel on the drivers side, with the fuses where the door closes into the car and dashboard.
After trying to interpret waht the manual was talking about i took the key and twisted it in the front key position near the rear view mirror. This locked the front down, however the warning was stil on. I used the key again in the rear Key slot and locked the back of the roof down. I checked the warning and it had gone. Then i pressed the switch to drop the roof automatically to fully open and back up again and all is fine.
